The Mindy Projects follows New Yorks wannabe IT girl as she narrates her way through her life as a doctor in the city.

I personally love The Mindy Project. I truly appreciate that there is finally an Indian lady as the main protagonist on American television. It's a demographic that doesn't get spoken for often and although Mindy is a very different personality from a lot of Asian women, it's nice that there is finally someone for them to relate to in some way.

Mindy is a very open and honest character. She is a character with little to no filter but not in the offensive way most unfiltered characters are. Her personality is very loud and garish but she is also a very smart and educated women at the same time.

What I like most about the show is the troubles and life adventures she goes through. I believe she's meant to live a very cosmopolitan/'sex in the city' life, which she does but in a quirky and realistic way. You can relate to her a lot because of the mistakes she often makes which is something that always draws me back to the show. It's nice to be able to watch someone who isn't airbrushed both physically and mentally.

The programme altogether discusses a lot of topics from feminism to general life problems such as interracial relationships and expectations.

The storyline throughout the show is interesting and the romance between the characters is what really makes me engage with characters. Although Mindy comes off as superficial the show isn't at all in the same direction and can teach you a lot.

As a whole, The Mindy Project is a great show. It has that very mature humour that I enjoy and I feel as though it really understands its target demographic and that's why the show works so well. It's not a show for everyone but with it's diverse casting, I'm sure anyone who watches will find some they relate to and enjoy watching.
