Coming to public attention in 2014 with his correspondence role on The Daily Show, Minhaj has only risen. Not only did the 31 year old comedian secure a spot at The White House Correspondents dinner where he took a stand against D****D T***P and state by roasting them but he has also just released his Netflix comedy special, Homecoming King.

Talking about his experience as an immigrant in America, the cultural issues he faced growing up and general antidotes from his childhood, Minhaj manages to create a captivating 72 minute set filled with emotion, laughter and sincerity. Minhaj's set doesn't feel like your usual stand-up comedian set, it feels more like a movie. You get drawn into his life, you can imagine being there, growing up alongside him and feeling how he felt.

What makes Minhaj able to stand out against the multiple Netflix comedians is his ability to intertwine the western world with the his Indian-Muslim heritage, making his comedy not only relatable to POC but to the white world too - even with his Hindi speaking at times. With themes of love, relationships, sibling rivalry and family issues it's hard not to warm to Minhaj.

Whilst some comedians simply go on stage and tell stories or act them out, Minhaj goes in deep. He conveys emotion with his whole body. Managing to portray sadness with his eyes, Minhaj knows exactly when to change his tone, his expression and stance to get the most out of his script. It's this ability that really makes him and his performance stick in your head long after you watched it.

Not only was it himself that was able to create a vivid imagery in your head but also his use of props. inparticular the projection screen behind him. With illustrations, texts, pictures and videos, Minhaj really made you understand what was going in the time he speaks about, making you feel fully in tune with his life.

With frequent comparisons to comedian friend Aziz Ansari (because two brown people doing the same job must be similar), Minhaj is notable for his political comedy. With a background as a news reporter for The Daily Show it would be hard for the comedian not to. It's his ability to use his platform to discuss important issues such as the death of Trayvon Martin that speaks volumes to the character that he is.

A definite Netflix Original to watch and a comedian to look out for. With his millennial personality, Minhaj is sure to make a statement in the pop culture world and we can expect to see a lot more of him in the mainstream.
